What is a trip hazard and how can they be fixed? Trip hazards come in all shapes and sizes from driveways that have been raised due to settling or tree roots growing under concrete and raising the surface. Some of the most common trip incidents happen in residential complexes where sidewalks are compromised. In Canada there are hundreds if not thousands of reported incidents of people tripping and suing strata complexes or owners of public places such as malls, movie theatres, restaurants, etc..

These situations can generally be an easy fix but they should be looked after before it’s too late. Many times the property owners believe spraying colorful warning lines can be helpful but in reality that’s somewhat an admission that they are aware of the issue. Usually these types of uneven surfaces can be looked after by calling a concrete grinding company and they will have these ground down using hand grinders.

After the grinding is done the ground area will usually show aggregate, however this is unavoidable as the grinders are taking off layers of concrete and exposing the aggregate that makes up the concrete. The most important thing to remember is taking care of the issue can reduce exposure to lawsuits.
